Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira, or simply Sócrates, was an inspiring man, both on and off the pitch. If I hadn’t known any better, and you told me about Sócrates, I would’ve believed him to be the reincarnation of the great Greek philosopher. The stoic look in his eyes paired with his brilliant beard gave him the appearance of a wandering prophet, one who would impart his wisdom as he passed from pitch to pitch, enlightening those who watched him masterfully compose plays just as other great minds did before him.
